Bags Packed?

The Friends of Reston Regional Library have some unique volunteers when it comes to the HUGE Semi-Annual Book Sales. We not only have patrons who travel a great distance to come shop, we have some volunteers who do so too!

One such volunteer is our dear friend Melody. Melody used to live in this area and helped run the book sale for many years. She knows well the volume of work required to put on a successful booksale -- but keeps coming back for more! She currently lives in New Jersey, but travels down to help us out, early in the week of set-up, and spreads her unique cheer and charm. If you've been at one of our sales, you have undoubtedly been blessed by her humor and kindness. She is the one who is always smiling! We are grateful for her presence and immense help!

And have you heard some British accents during sales? Yep, we have a couple, Keith and Margaret, shown here with our booksale chair, Charly, who travel across the pond to join us for our sales as often as their budget and schedules permit. What was born out of a friendship with our booksale chair, Charly, has blossomed to a friendship with many of us in the organization. Keith and Margaret are also two of the most friendly people you'll meet at our booksale. We love their company and their dedication. It's one thing to travel to have a vacation -- it's another to travel to schlep books around!

Yes! The plan is that Melody, Keith and Margaret will be with us at the end of April. Friends Night is Thursday, April 23, from 6-8:30. If your membership has lapsed, this is a good chance to renew it and get 'first taste' of what we have to offer for this sale. If you'd like to join us that evening, you will need to purchase a membership, which are available that night. But beat the rush and have it in hand -- e-mail us at restonfriendspr@gmail.com and we'll get you fixed up.

The Semi-Annual Sale opens to the public at 10 a.m. on Friday, 24 April. Some of the things to remember:
  • no strollers (Fire Marshal orders)
  • cash or checks only, please (there is an ATM machine)
  • no boorish behavior (there really are enough books for everyone!)
  • no hoarding books
  • don't forget the Specials Room!
Prices:
  • Hardbacks begin at $1.50
  • Trade Paperbacks begin at $1.00
  • Small Paperbacks begin at .50
  • Childrens books and AV priced differently -- stay tuned!
Hours
  • Friday, 24 April, 10-5:00
  • Saturday, 25 April, 10-4:30
